Croeso! Welcome to our Nursery, Reception and Year One Class page. Our Unit is a place where pupils can feel happy, safe and welcome. We offer a broad and exciting curriculum for all learners. Our staff are committed to ensure all pupils make progress and enjoy their learning journey. We have a skilled team of staff that includes Thrive, Elsa and Elklan practitioners. Pupil’s well-being is at the heart of what we do and believe that when pupils are happy and safe they can achieve their greatest potential. We work closely with parents, families and our wider community, including our Flying Start setting. We get to know our learners and the people who are important to them right from the start. Our Theme
Our theme for the Autumn term is 'Hengoed Stars'. We will spend lots of time exploring what it means to be a superstar. At the end of the term, we will be inviting you to a fantastic exhibition that will showcase our work!
Some information …
Entering the school …
The children will enter the school via the gate on the main yard. Reception and Year One pupils are to walk independently to the class… they do not need to be accompanied by an adult. We are really fostering independence and confidence … so we want them to be really grown up! Parents are permitted to walk Nursery pupils to the class little yard gate. We kindly request that parents do not come into the class with their child; as this creates congestion by the door and causes upset to some pupils. We know that you will support us with this from day one.
Snack …
Snack is £1.50 … and your child will have the opportunity to prepare delicious, healthy treats for themselves. If you would prefer to provide a snack for your child, then please ensure that it’s healthy. Thank you.
Belongings …
Please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled with their name to ensure that they do not get lost.
Book Bags ...
Your child will shortly be bringing home a letters and sounds pack/a reading book. Please support your child with the contents of these packs and return them to school every Friday. Thank you!
